Puzzling Questions

A six-week course to explore life’s deeper issues.

The evenings will combine discussion, poetry, interviews and music. It will be a safe space where no one is under pressure to speak.

The core idea in looking at these questions (over leaf) is not to give a number of facts that you must believe but rather to provide material to reflect on these deeper questions and find your own way forward.

November 7th : Who am I? Does physical beauty equal happiness? How free are we to be ourselves?

November 14th : What is God like? Many people today are open to the idea that there might be a supernatural dimension. What they are not sure about is whether there is a God and what God is like?

November 21st :  What happens after I die? It seems there are two events in particular that focus the mind on life’s spiritual content: one is when we have to raise a child and the other is when somebody close to us dies. What fears do we have about dying? When should we start to think about our own death?

November 28th :  How can I be happy? Everyone wants to be happy but very few know how to achieve it. We consider the role of comedy and laughter in making people happy and whether obtaining more stuff actually makes us happier.

December 5th :    Why is there suffering in the world? Is there anything we can do to alleviate it? For people of faith, where is God when someone suffers?

December 12th :  What is the spiritual world and how does it impact my life? A beginner’s guide to understanding the spiritual world and how we can engage with it and experience its reality in our own life.
